New game additions and awesome new bands will have you rockin’ all night long
It would be easy to dismiss “Guitar Hero 5”—which RedOctane/Activision Blizzard will release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Wii on September 1—as being a retread of last year’s “Guitar Hero World Tour.” And in some ways, it is. You still use the mic, guitar and drum controllers to follow along with the bouncing notes of your favorite songs like a professional karaoke singer, air guitarist or air drummer.
The game also lets you rock out to tons of classic rock songs from the likes of The Rolling Stones (“Sympathy for the Devil”), Queen and David Bowie (“Under Pressure”) and Elton John (“Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”), as well as tunes from future classic rockers as the White Stripes (“Blue Orchid”), Kings of Leon (“Sex on Fire”), and Vampire Weekend (“A-Punk”).
But this year’s model is also adding some new gameplay options that will make the game even more fun for party people, as you can see from our following gallery of screenshots. — Paul Semel, Special To Metromix
