The Eleventh Hour

"Eleventh Hour" stars Rufus Sewell as Dr. Jacob Hood, a scientist/detective (where are those scientist/detectives when you really need them?) brought on by the government to track down criminals who "abuse and misuse scientific discoveries for their own gain." (Seriously.) "Eleventh Hour" is exec-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, so expect an explosion, car chase or overacting pirate every couple of minutes.

Import, update or adaptation: Another British import.
