Jeff Daniels, national star of the stage and screen, might just be the savior of the local theater scene. A native of Chelsea, Daniels began the Purple Rose Theatre, a not-for-profit venture, in the hopes of giving Midwestern theater artists an opportunity to hone their craft. The Purple Rose offers intensive acting and directing classes for all ages and experience levels. Tickets for shows are offered at reasonable prices, bringing an upscale theater experience to the general public. Productions range in topic from comedies to dramas, but regardless of theme their messages are sure to hit home for everyone. --Erin Branstner
