Joe Louis Arena
Local folks refer to it as simply "the Joe." Sitting on the banks of the Detroit river, this hockey arena was built in 1979 and named after legendary Detroit boxer Joe Louis. Home to the Detroit Red Wings and a variety of concerts, it's one of few remaining NHL arenas without a corporate sponsorship name. --Rachel May
