Roadside B&G, Bloomfield Township
Restaurateur Bill Roberts' Beverly Hills Grill, Streetside Seafood and Town Tavern are known for their approachable but sophisticated food, friendly bars and professional service. So it's no surprise that his new Roadside B&G (for bar and grill) fits the same mold. Set in a 50-year-old retrofitted roadhouse on Telegraph in Bloomfield Township, Roadside has a more relaxed, laid-back feel than its siblings -- and so does its menu. Starters include short-rib tacos, fresh oysters on the half-shell and warm potato chips with gorgonzola and bacon. Entrées range from a juicy custom-ground cheeseburger with thick steak fries to roasted vegetarian enchiladas to excellent daily-changing seafood offerings. Don't miss the meaty, tender, maple-glazed barbecue ribs, house-made like everything else. Children's antique cars decorate the dining room, where sleek new fixtures and glass walls are juxtaposed with wooden ceilings and concrete blocks from the original building. It's a great fit -- with great food -- for the neighborhood.
(Lunch, dinner, weekend brunch. Dinner starters $4-$12; entrées teens-$20s. 1727 S. Telegraph; 248-858-7270 and www.roadsidebandg.com)
