Resolution rewind: Lose weight with tacos, burgers and Chinese
By Erin Branstner/Special to Metromix
Most of us have already forgotten about that whole New Year's resolution thing. Seriously, though, how many of us are still looking back at our cold (Michigan winter) reflection saying, “Yuck: What am I gonna do about all of this!?! And this?!? And this?!!”
While most of us have already aborted that annual “lose weight” resolution schtick, it's still a brand new decade, spring is somewhere close to being (right) around the corner...Most important, it's not only a healthy choice to try and shed some of that extra hibernation warmth, but it's easier than ever.
Gone are the days of bland, boring food with a texture that makes chewing on Styrofoam seem stimulating. Instead, Americans (and that means us here in Michigan, we don't only have to be NBC's "The Biggest Loser" headquarters) are becoming increasingly educated about just what they put in their mouths and just how to prepare it in a way that is pleasing to the palate.
And while the best bet is to educate yourself on what it is you eat and then, ultimately, apply that diet to your lifestyle starting right at home in your own kitchen, Metromix knows fully well we're a culture on the go-go-go. While it may be fun, cost effective and healthier to cook it up for yourself every night, that's just not always possible.
Thankfully, more and more local restaurants are stepping it up with healthy, low-fat options you can enjoy without the guilt or the empty calories. Trying to lose weight on your own is a tricky test of will power, so let us help you out with a little taste testing around town.
