Head to the heart of downtown Birmingham and you’ll find chic, upscale venues like Chen Chow Brasserie. What you won’t normally find, however, is a fashionable restaurant encouraging patrons to wear flip flops, hula skirts, coconut bras and Hawaiian shirts. Hoping to introduce itself to a different crowd, Chen Chow and Metromix hosted a Tiki Party Tuesday where the dress code took a 180-degree turn from its usual parameters. Guests were lei'd by greeters in floral dresses as they walked in the door, and a tropical menu consisted of chicken, sushi and desserts like key lime pie and vanilla marshmallow.
