Supino's one-year anniversary
August 23, 2009
The one-year-anniversary celebration for Supino's Pizzeria took place at Farnsworth Community Garden located at Farnsworth and Elm Street in Detroit. It was clear after talking with several people that many in attendance were friends, moreso than customers, of owner Dave Mancini, but all commented that Mancini was always working hard at the pizza shop.
The location, dead smack in the middle of a neighborhood, followed the community mentality Mancini seems to support, and the menu featured Italian Griglia (each flatbread was grilled one by one as we waited patiently in line to grab our home grown/made toppings like pesto, pulled pork, portabello mushrooms, tomatos, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella). Even the dessert was made from scratch -- garden-grown raspberries used to make gelato.
