Back in the fall of 2008, the Detroit Free Press ran a search for the city's best burger and the response was fattening. Juicy recommendations, cheesy tips, and all sorts of people grilled us about the feature...Now it's the Metromix five-pack lined up for scrutiny. And - go. If you think we left out a deserving nominee, let us hear about it!

It was a close race between Red Coat and Miller’s, but voters said nirvana awaits you at the Red Coat, which also won the 2011 Best of Metromix crown. You can’t lose with the Original Red Coat Special — a memorably juicy ground beef patty with shredded iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, special sauce and maybe some sharp American cheese on a sesame bun.

Hunter House Hamburgers is extremely busy on Friday and Saturday nights, serving up quick and easy fare for the after-bar crowds from Birmingham and Royal Oak. Burger lovers visiting downtown Detroit can now get a Hunter House hamburger at a second restaurant on Randolph.
