Today, metro Detroiters can get their first taste of celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s newest restaurant — Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina at the MGM Grand Detroit.
Set to open its doors at 5 p.m., the restaurant features a comfortable atmosphere and an approachable Italian menu.
“It’s great to return to Detroit and to the MGM Grand with the opening of our casual Italian concept,” Puck said in a news release. His original restaurant at the casino, the Wolfgang Puck Grille, closed last spring. “Our Pizzeria & Cucina is the perfect place to relax with family and friends. Great Italian food is all about great ingredients. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just delicious!”
The menu features Puck’s famed wood-oven baked pizzas and pays tribute to Italy through pastas and specialty dishes and is complete with Italian favorites including antipasti, salads, handmade pastas, meats and fish.
Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina is opening in the space formerly occupied by Michael Mina’s SaltWater, which closed last month. A second Wolfgang Puck restaurant, Wolfgang Puck Steak, is slated to open at the casino hotel in December.
Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina is open for dinner only, 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays. To make reservations, call 877-888-2121.
