Signature Grille & Bar in downtown Detroit's Riverfront Towers has a sensational and soothing river view reminding you that you're someplace special. It seats 84 people, mostly at small tables that encircle the 26-person bar in the center of the room. The lunch menu offers mostly salads and sandwiches, a couple of which are tributes to legendary Detroiters. The Coleman, $8, named for former Mayor Coleman A. Young, offers hefty stacked baked ham slices with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and a special sauce that combines a Thousand Island-like dressing with honey Dijon on a marble rye bread. The Rosa Veggie Focaccia, $6, named for Rosa Parks, offers seasonal grilled veggies on fresh-baked focaccia. Eight appetizers are offered at lunch and dinner, and the menu offers a choice of four salads ranging from $8 to $12. The public can get an even closer view of the river by dining outdoors from 6 to 9 p.m. every other Friday, when there's a varying theme with a live band and buffet to match. --Cassandra Spratling
