Pi offers a soothing, South Beach vibe, with gauzy, white, floor-to-ceiling sheers dividing the room into oases of calm. The tables are spare, with votive candles dotting white tablecloths. Lights flicker in soft hues, adding to the Zen-like mood. With nods to Greek tavernas, the menu marches headlong through Europe, with dishes earmarked from Italy to Ireland, Spain to Slavic.
Starters stay close to its Mediterranean roots. A tapas of sausage with Hungarian peppers ($5) brought the heat. There are half a dozen thin-crusted pizzas from a brick oven, and the staff is sweet and likable. The bar, which draws a young after-work crowd, is a dark beauty with flat-screen TVs, a tapas menu, delicious German drafts and scores of bottled beers, along with the liquor. --David Zeman
