After recently coming out tops in the “Outstanding
Hard Rock / Metal Band” category at the 2008 Detroit Music Awards, 60 Second
Crush have every reason to be cheerful right now and attendees at the Stars
& Stripes Festival may well reap the rewards of their joy.
However, drummer (Ryan Schimming) Schimdog explains to
Metromix that not everything is going to plan. “Our bass player, Dana
[Forrester], is going to be in Alaska
on vacation on the day of the show, so we have a stand in. We’ll be rocking as
hard as we can though – that’s our philosophy.”
The tub-thumper is keen to check out some
of the other local bands on display. “I haven’t had a good look at the bill,
but I know there are some good local bands playing. The Unheard are well worth
checking out.”
And as Schimdog pointed out, the Crushers
are no strangers to supporting the troops. “We actually did a compilation CD
for the troops in Iraq. One of our songs got on there, and we had a couple of
emails from the soldiers over there, which was very cool.”
