No denying Hockeytown is the capitol of NHL country and on opening night of the 2008-09 season, the Stanley Cup celebration reached epic proportions as the Detroit Red Wings raised their championship banner at the Joe while at the Fox Theatre Def Leppard delivered a special arena-rock performance. Those in attendance at the Fox were treated to a broadcast of the sold-out Red Wings game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, including the championship banner-raising ceremony, witnessed Darren McCarty ride on stage with a motorcycle, saw the Stanley Cup itself and partied like Hockeytown champions while Def Leppard featured jams from their latest effort, "Songs From the Sparkle Lounge."
