Vinnie Dombrowski: Crud, Orbitsuns and Sponge

What is the best car that you’ve owned?
Easy enough. My 1967 Chevy Impala. I have owned it for 20 years. It’s in my garage right now and if you were here we’d go driving. It has the same transmission, same rear end – it’s one of Detroit’s finest.

And the worst?
A Ford Pinto. That car died in Royal Oak. The back was all rusted through. The springs were held up with two 4x4’s. It eventually died on Fourth St. off Main, and I abandoned the car. Nobody called me about it.

What do you drive now?
Still driving the Impala.

Can you think of a funny or crazy story, something that happened to you while driving?
I used to be able to change the plugs on the Impala in the dark. I had a four-gallon gas can that I kept behind the front seat. No smoking please. But if I was going to go, that’s how I want to go.
