Party pics: 93.9 the River's Winter Icebreaker
January 9, 2009
Featuring City and Colour, Serena Ryder, William Elliott Whitmore, and Neverending White Lights, 93.9 the River's Winter Icebreaker sold-out the Fillmore Detroit despite the treacherous weather. Ryder’s opening set was captivating, and the crowd was moved by her foot-stomping, hand-clapping a capella version of her song “Sing-sing.” Daniel Victor’s the Neverending White Lights continued to keep fans mesmerized with a romantic mix of melody, rock and thought-provoking lyrics. Although a young musician (still under 30), William Elliott Whitmore’s solo set -- featuring just a banjo -- was rustic and mature. Finally, headliner Dallas Green’s amazing voice and passionate words made City with Colour’s set a magical experience. The vibe was chill and no one yelled out anything stupid, and Dallas politely acknowledged, "Thank you for that.”
