Rocker Jon Bon Jovi is speaking out for the first time about his 19-year-old daughter's recent heroin overdose, a tragic event that shocked the entertainment world.

College student Stephanie Rose Bongiovi overdosed on heroin last week while on campus at Hamilton College in Kirkland, N.Y. She was arrested and hospitalized after the incident, but drug possession charges against her were eventually dropped.

In an interview with Los Angeles' Fox 11, Bon Jovi says he and his family are trying to move past the unfortunate event.

"What I do for a living seems glitzy and glamorous but if you don't take it too seriously it's a great way to make a living," he said. "And then life goes on. Things happen. ... This tragedy was something that I had to face too so we'll get through it. And people's warm wishes for my family and I have been really reassuring. So, we're good"
