Tour de Troit
At the seventh annual Tour de Troit more than 1,000 cyclists rode 40 miles around Detroit. The ride which started and ended in front of the Michigan Central Train Station traversed the Woodward Corridor through Eastern Market, Brush Park, Boston Edison, the University District, Palmer Park, Old Redford and Grandmont-Rosedale areas among others. Along the way people lined the streets to wave the spandex and helmet clad procession forward. Even though the entire group took 45 minutes to pass any given spot, motorists seem to enjoy the sight. Tour de Troit is meant to raise bike awareness as a mode of transportation, and safety between cars and cyclists. People came out from all over; all different ages riding for various motivations. The ride was sponsored in part by the Wheelhouse Detroit, and on-sight morning bike maintenance was provided by The Hub Bike Shop of Detroit.
