People's Arts Festival 2011
Detroit’s Russell Industrial Center again played host to the People’s Art Festival. The annual art fest showcased more than 150 artists on the outside of the complex while numerous artists opened their studio doors to the public. Local fashion designers were featured in runway shows. Local music acts used three stages to keep the festival lively. The Mural Building saw Detroit area author Kathe Koja give an up-close preview of the stage version of her novel “Under the Poppy.” All the while, the Russell Bazaar kept its weekend hours giving festival goers even more to explore.
