The third annual Official Ultimate Black Party was a lavish festivity that went beyond a typical club experience as the Detroit Historical Museum was transformed into three floors of upscale entertainment. Hot 102.7’s Suga Rae held down the main level with DJ Wax Tax’n Dre banging out the latest hip-hop, R&B and reggae joints. Professional gourmet food was offered and there were also massage therapists providing extra relaxation for stressed-out revelers. Areas were set up to purchase jewelry and accessories throughout the action. The Black Party definitely had its share of Detroit movers and shakers, including mayoral hopeful Freman Hendrix and the Woodward restaurant owner William Cartwright. As expected, the attire for the evening was all black, but there were a few risk takers and rule breakers.
