Party pics: ILLiversary at the Jazz Cafe
Spoken word took center stage at the Jazz Cafe, located in Detroit's historic Music Hall, as a full house enjoyed the first-anniversary performance of Illplaybill, a monthly showcase of some of Detroit's hippest poets. Billed as hip-hop theater, the Illplaybill series is hosted by founder Joel 'Fluent' Greene and provides a unique platform to Detroit-area artists. The ILLiversary show was titled "A Man Can Change" and featured the work of an all-male lineup. Performers included the Dreaded Poets Society, Sheefy Mcfly, Andrew Barnhill, Ju Hall, Will Copeland, Shaun Moore-Bey, Lucky Lefty and Mic Phelps .The evening's musical interludes were provided by DJ LaJedi. Local vendors and artist displayed their wares around the lobby to round out the evening's entertainment.
