Party pics: 12 Drags of Christmas 2012
A full house cheered on some of the country's top drag performers as they impersonated some of their favorite celebrities during the second annual 12 Drags of Christmas event at Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak. The event was put together by actress Erin Cummings, who lists the "Detroit 187" TV series among her many credits, and the folks at Five15, who put on the popular Drag Queen Bingo events. Cummings hosted the show with help from Michigan's Drag Queen extraordinaire September Murphy.
The proceeds from the evening's ticket sales, silent auction and 50/50 raffle went to benefit two local charities -- Mittens for Detroit, a nonprofit founded by Cummings that collects and distributes new gloves and mittens to those in need, and the Ruth Ellis Center, an agency that provides shelter and support for LGBT youth in metro Detroit.
