New Year's Nation
Metromix kissed 2009 away and rang in 2010 with the Social Connection at the Royal Oak Music Theatre for New Year’s Nation, the party that connected the nation. Ten cities coordinated a cross-country event that spanned four time zones where each venue hosted a film crew to document the midnight madness for an ongoing live simulcast.
VIPs got access to the party an hour early for a private champagne reception and buffet of swanky hors d’oeuvres before the doors busted open for a sold out crowd. Revelers partied to the hits of That 80’s Band in between sets by Royal Oak club residents DJ Urban Kris and percussionist Jared Sykes.
Guests had the opportunity to soak up some of their partying with a sumptuous midnight buffet stocked with Royal Oak’s favorite Mexican grille, Zúmba along with coneys, sliders and pizza. Then, at 1 a.m. EST (12 a.m. CT) sponsor Colgate attempted to break the Guinness Book of World Records for most people kissing simultaneously across the entire New Year’s Nation party network. While official word is still out on the whether the record was achieved, Metromix definitely got in on some of the smooching.
Happy 2K10. MMXO!
