On December 10 and 11, District VII, that studio/art space near the river that has become a byword for creative energy of late, will warmly play host to Detroit Pin-Ups and Hot Rods Extravaganza. It's an art exhibition with the added drawing power of live performances by several talented women from here and elsewhere who know how to move to the timeless choreography of classic burlesque. Forget that movie, folks. This is the real deal and it's way better!
Things get academic on December 11. That's when Kristine Diven (Studio-X) herself kick-starts a workshop devoted to the finer points of pin-up photography. And it's not just intended for those behind the camera. Models eager to pad their portfolio or learn a key lesson or two about the proper way to arch and strut are encouraged to enroll as well. And the autos being delivered to the set in order to get that oh-so important degree of visual ambiance will undoubtedly prove inspirational.
