323 East 2nd anniversary party
The Royal Oak gallery and arts boutique 323East celebrated its second successful year in business with a three-day spectacular that included saucey-y barbecue fun, a whole lot of art, and an eclectic range of Detroiters who love to support and create inside the local scene. To mark this special occasion, the gallery turned to Kobie Solomon and "My First Graffiti Coloring Book" - that is, to Solomon's 26-page monograph/meditation/manual/intro to this expressive medium of color and line. They also teamed up with CPop and Y Arts Detroit to find 26 artists to submit their own personal interpretations of each page. A score of local street artists executed an amazing 72-hour mural project on the gallery's exterior walls. too. -- Robert del Valle/Special to Metromix
