1. Snow
Now before you write me off as crazy, just let me explain. Not every state in the union can say they get to experience all four seasons, and even fewer get to take advantage of the marvels that accompany a real winter wonderland. While driving on snow covered roads may not be what you call ideal, the amazing amount of fun and excitement you can have more than makes up for it. While Detroit’s average snowfall is 38 in., it’s really nothing compared to Syracuse which comes in at 103 in. or even Denver at 68 in. That’s something to be thankful for, right?
Instead of fighting the forces of nature, how about joining sides and enjoying a little of that aforementioned fun and excitement. There are few things more invigorating than roaming around the outdoor ice rink at Campus Martius under a flake-filled sky. Ice skating not your style? How about a romp in the snow at any one of the great area parks like Kensington Metropark in Milford. With tons of great hills to get your thrills on, you will definitely get your fill of ups and downs. While the toboggan run is closed this year for massive renovations, the best behemoth in the area, Mt. Holly, will be up and running before you know it. Boasting everything to suit your skiing needs right in Groveland Twp., Mt Holly has 19 trails ranging from beginner to advance in difficulty. Student rates and season pass discounts are available now.
