Weekend hit list
Sept. 5-7: From Pigtown to pigskin
Special to MetromixSeptember 4, 2008
Countdown to Kickoff
Friday: There's no better way to get super-charged for another season of smashmouth football than booze and violence. Watch women wrestle, midgets wrestle and local celebrities wrestle all in the name of sportsmanship.
Arbouretum
Friday: How much more paisley can this show get? None. None more paisley. Talking Head trips out this Friday with a lineup of psychedelic rock bands sure to make you sway slowly from side to side. Baltimore's Arboretum headlines, but be sure not to miss Pontiak.
Pigtown Festival 2008
Saturday: We love our quirky Baltimore traditions and the Pigtown Fest is no exception. Catch the time-honored running of the pigs or dress your pet up like an oinker. It's all good, clean fun.
Bond: How it all Began
Saturday and Sunday: There's been no shortage of Bond, James Bond in town lately, which is not a bad thing. There's no such thing as too much 007. This time around, catch "Goldfinger," "The Spy Who Loved Me," "The Living Daylights" and "Goldeneye."
Ravens home games
Sunday: What time is it? Game time! Football season finally returns minus Kyle Boller (we'll deal) for the season opener against the Bengals. We must protect this house!
Maryland Renaissance Festival
Saturdays and Sundays through October: Your destiny as a valiant knight of Camelot shall be revealed! This festival is to your inner nerd what the State Fair is to your inner hillbilly. It's still great, geeky, fun!
