Now that our favorite hockey team (Detroit Red Wings for those sleeping under a rock) have made it into the Stanley Cup Finals, where are you gonna watch, drink and cheer? Assuming you didn't actually score tickets -- it is still fun to be close to the action downtown. Try one of these sports-friendly bars located within walking distance of the Joe. Octopus not required. Penguins beware. Go Wings!

Anchor Bar
450 W. Fort - DetroitAn Anchor Bar manager says he and his staff are getting super excited for the playoffs and, with a location just steps away from the Joe, who wouldn’t be? Of course Michigan’s unpredictable weather could mean snow at anytime, so if you’re not sure about that quick lil’ hop, skip and a jump to the arena, park your tail on the shuttle for $1. Multiply that by three and you’ve got the special playoff price for a can of Labatt. All nine televisions will be tuned to hockey and if the Red Wings make it to the second or third round, the Anchor Bar says there will be live radio broadcasts from the venue.
Cobo Joe's Bar
422 W. Congress St Lbby - DetroitLocated next to the Post and across from the Joe, Cobo Joe's offers a vibrant atmosphere, great beer and excellent food. With 16 TVs, plus a six-foot projection screen, you may feel like you’re actually at the game. Watch those elbows.
The Detroiter Bar
655 Beaubien - DetroitA bit further away from the Joe is the Detroiter, a great place to stop in for drinks and eats. After trying the Detroiter special – a burger, beer and fries for just under $9 – you can burn some calories by walking a few blocks to the arena or opt to take the free shuttle. Don’t have tickets to the game or can’t bring yourself to move away from the fun? Watch one of 10 TVs, including two flat-screen high definitions.
Post Bar
408 W. Congress -
Detroit
It’s easy to find a wide mix of people at this long and skinny joint, but with its prime location directly across from the Joe, it’s a certainty Red Wing fans will be shouting at one of the venue’s six TVs. Laid back, yet high energy, the Post doesn’t sport a kitchen, but feel free to bring your own grub to go with the brews.
