Party Pics: Detroit Rocks the Vote
September 17, 2008
Chuck D engaged the Fillmore crowd where he talked about the struggles we're having here in Detroit ("You think you got it bad? Just know that everybody thinks they have it bad, but there are people who got it way worse."), the candidates ("Be prepared for the worst") and the importance of leading by example ("The bottom line is: You gotta grow the Hell up.").
Detroiters were revved up at Detroit Rocks the Vote, which included a presentation by featured speaker Chuck D from Public Enemy, a politically charged rap group, who spoke on the importance of having your voice heard during the upcoming presidential election. The 12 local music artists included Anthony David, The Volebeats, jessica Care moore, The Go, Nadir, Deastro, The Muggs, Black Milk, eLZhi, Phat Kat and Guilty Simpson.
