DVS is a Detroit-based fine art exotic/erotic/experimental photographer whose pseudonym is an acronym for Dark Vision Studio (www.dvsdetroit.com), as well as a play on the word "devious" - as in "departing from the common norm". He is the principal curator and director of the DAMNED II exhibit and he was kind enough to take time away from a VERY busy itinerary to answer a few questions.
 
If you had to summarize the theme or "raison" behind this event ...?
DAMNED, first and foremost, is an exhibition of the intensely personal creations that are often born during an artist's most darkest hours. This art can be the grace that returns them towards the light, the guide to discover new paths of self or simply the embodiment of rages, denials, abandonments and realizations. DAMNED then cultures an intriguing visual ambiance of art-inspired performances with the region's most creative talent.

Why does sensuality so often find a mirror image in things that certain people would characterize as morbid?
The essence of morbidity regards the essence of the body or the "anatomic" self - and the body is (and always will be) a sensual object. I could extend on this deeper, but unfortunately not at the moment.

Is the show larger - more ambitious - than last year's?
MUCH larger with an added second night that is a formal masquerade ball with an optional six-course presentation-style dinner.

What will you be contributing personally to the show?
In short, custom candelabras and 3D "Captured Souls" sculpted pieces in the ballroom.

And who deserves (perhaps) to be singled out this year among the newcomers?
With over 140 artists featured coming from all over the world, it is difficult to single out any single artist; however, we are noting the
distinct honor of featuring the final works by a local artist who recently passed away. Her art was brought to us by her family in memoriam.
