Is it summer yet? All this research has triggered magical memories of thousands of people geeking out to the beats at Hart Plaza. Feeling it?
Confession: Metromix is all about the outdoor festival season (hurry up already!). Oh, no -- we're not taking anything away from the uber-cool Motown Winter Blast. We love you, too...we do! But to devour a corn dog on the riverfront under a scorching sun -- that sounds pretty good during the deep freeze we're in during January, no?

Movement 2011: The Festival, the parties
Three straight days of electronic music at Hart Plaza, with multiple stages and dozens of musicians and DJs. That’s what made Movement the ultimate stage for the city to flex its electronic music muscle — and made it No. 1 in this formidable category. After all, Detroit is the place that founded techno music. And did we mention the afterparties?

Arts, Beats & Eats 2011
The annual celebration of art, music and cuisine in Royal Oak features more than 200 performances on 10 stages, a juried fine arts show plus tons of food from local restaurants.
DIY Street Fair 2010
The 2-day, 3-night Ferndale event brings together Do-it-yourselfers (local artists, crafters, businesses, groups, musicians, restaurants, brewers and more) to showcases creative energy, independent spirit and innovative local talent.
Dally in the Alley 2011
It began as an inner city art fair in 1977 and has evolved into a performing arts festival loaded with great musical talent, good beer, arts & crafts and more.
Detroit Jazz Festival
For more than 30 years, the Jazz Festival has remained one of Detroit's signature cultural events and one of the the largest free-of-charge jazz festivals in North America. It attracts crowds estimated at more than 200,000 annually, shining an international spotlight on the city's remarkable jazz legacy.
