Posh -- no not the Spice Girl -- is the name and style Crystal
Hall, a Detroit
designer, is giving her latest fashion show.
The 25-year-old Hall will showcase her latest threads, which
will feature spring and summer digs, along with swimwear from her House of
Diamonds collection. Something that’s not a first for this designer.
“This fifth show for me is all about New York fashion week, but in a classic, sophisticated
way, like my design style,” Hall says. “It’s somewhat couture, but definitely
not your typical evening or swimwear.”
Crystal Marie Young, public relations person for Hall, says
her line is “phenomenal” and made for all sizes and ages. “It’s going for that
glamour, grown-up look,” Young says. “People who love playing dress-up; this is
the line you go for.”
And going from day into night, as well, is what this Detroit
High School of Performing Arts and Wayne
State University
graduate was going for, too, she says. “It’s for the fashion-forward male and
female,” Hall says.
Evening gowns, pants, shirts, dresses, blazers, shorts and
not-so-typical beachwear will all be included at prices starting at $20 and go all
the way up to $150. Materials of satin, denim
and linen in soft pinks, peaches, browns and creams will light-up the runway,
she adds.
“We’re gearing up for summer so the thought was to use
classic colors,” Hall says. “I look at a lot of designers, I see other people
wearing things that inspire me, but originality -- that’s what makes me good. I
make the patterns, I sew, it’s all me, me, me.”
Hall says she’s also not afraid to be bold with her collections
and she’s not certainly not afraid to takes chances. For example, this line has
lace items that many consider to be lingerie-type material only. “It’s completely
different from when I started,” she says. “I personally love to dress-up and go
out so there’s cocktail wear for that. I also want people to be able to throw
on a House of Diamonds blazer and be good to go.
“Designing gives you a sense to be creative, unique and
different. Everybody loves fashion,” Hall says. “I want people to know Detroit has fashion to
offer.”
