“We’re excited to ring in 2009 with the City of Detroit,” says Bud Liebler, owner of the Whitney. “We wanted to think outside of the box and that’s when we came up with the New Year’s Eve celebration — an award-winning formal dining menu coupled with an exclusive and elegant, never-before Whitney New Year’s party.” A heated tent outside the iconic restaurant will hold an open premium bar, hors d’oeuvres, cabana booths and DJs Matt A and Roc Boy on the ones and twos. Dinner is available at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. for $75 and includes four courses and wine pairings. There’ll be complimentary shuttles to some downtown Marriott hotels.
