Killers from horror flicks come to life inside the 32 rooms at the Haunted Winery. Freddy Krueger from “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” he of the fingernails that look like blades, leads the pack. Also on hand: hockey-masked Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th,” “Halloween” demon Michael Myers and the maniac Jigsaw of “Saw” fame. This spooky site was constructed from the ruins of an electric power house. Dark tunnels, flashing lights and screams fill the 194,000-square-foot building, that local legend suggests is haunted by the ghosts of people who died there years ago. A Monster Cam provides real-time feeds of patrons’ reactions as they work their way through the maniacal maze. It’s not all bad, though. A portion of the proceeds goes to local Community Living Centers programs.
Scare factor: 8/10. The local ghost stories about the site add chills.
