As you -- faithful Metromixer -- already know by now, there ain't no party like a Detroit (Halloween) party. You're probably also hip to the fact that there ain't no art quite like Detroit Halloween art, especially when it comes from local artists who dig the dark side and still love the whole trick-or-treat thang.

So get a witch's shawl on (or just grab your jacket) and head to the opening reception at the Majestic Cafe for Ghouls-A-Go-Go on Thursday, Oct. 2. The always regal cuisine there will be complemented nicely by some choice bits of the macabre furnished by Mark Arminski, Jason Driscoll (Kill Taupe), Gwen Joy, Mike Kelly, Carl Oxley III, Audrey Pongracz, and Jerry Shirts. It's an all-month exhibit in honor of that day when we can all Monster Mash and go bump in the night.

We caught a few of the artists while they were putting the finishing touches on their works and asked the question: What is it about the 10/31 (haunted) holiday that you truly love and what are you trying to "say" through your art?

Check out the twisted works and scary answers of the sinister seven here:
