Noir Halo's business attire often includes vinyl, leather, whips and chains along with sexy lingerie outfits and dance gear. On that jaw-dropping first glance, it might be hard to believe this stunning blonde is more than just a pretty face with a wicked body but, in fact, she holds a bachelor's degree in graphic arts and marketing from Eastern Michigan University.
And she's not afraid to work it.
When she’s not hosting fetish events or performing in shows at Bondage Ball and Sexopolis in Hollywood, Halo can be found designing Web sites, painting, swimming or weight training.
“Definitely the most fun and unique outfits I've worn were the full body latex suits,” says Halo, who is also known as Megan. “The feeling of wearing slippery tight latex from head to toe is something everyone should experience.”
Born and raised in metro Detroit, Halo has lived in California’s Hollywood Hills for the last three and a half years. She’s “not afraid to tell my real age, because it’s very common for fetish models to be in their 20s or older,” confesses the 26-year-old Halo.
Modeling since she was 5 years old, Halo has strutted her way down numerous runways, starred in photo shoots, bar promotions, music videos and fetish shows. She has also worked as a go-go dancer for Luna, Mephistos and several other metro Detroit clubs.
This Saturday, she will host X-Ball at Clutch Cargo’s ilounge.
Metromix chatted up the multi-talented Halo recently as she preps for the big event.
Noir Halo – that’s an interesting name. What does it mean?
Noir Halo means black halo. There are a few reasons I go by this name. First of all, my favorite band is Nine Inch Nails and they use "halos" to number each of their albums. Secondly, I have a thing for drawing angels. I used to draw them all over my sketch books when I was younger. And, finally, the name stuck with me because I started using Noir Halo as my screen name on online message boards in Detroit, and everybody I met just knew my by that name. It's part of my computer geeky side.
There are a lot of words people may use to describe you and what you do, and I hardly think "geeky" would be in the top five. Can you break down what it is you do for a living?
It's definitely hard to explain to people that have no idea what fetish modeling is but I like to explain that it is a more of an artistic type of modeling. Being a fetish fashion model is about creating a fantasy-type look as opposed to showing off an outfit that people wear in every day life.
How does fetish modeling differ from commercial modeling?
My parents were the ones who got me started with modeling. For a while I really loved doing the fashion shows and getting all dressed up, but then it got somewhat frustrating as I got older. There is a huge difference between a child model, a teen model, and an adult-age model. It's hard to transition in between the different ages as a model, but I decided that the type of modeling I wanted to do was the more artistic type of alternative/fetish modeling -- more than mainstream modeling, although I still model in both types.
I started doing fetish modeling when a friend got me into a runway show modeling corsets in Detroit. And that's where I meet Ally from Chaos Productions and began doing Noir Leather fashion shows and promotional events.
The outfits you get to wear as a fetish model are usually a lot more fun and interesting than commercial modeling. And there is a lot more theatrical-type shows involved in fetish as opposed to mainstream modeling.
You hosted the Exotic Expo 2, right? Tell us a little about what that was like.
I was the VIP hostess at Exotica 2 in November 2007 and I really enjoyed it. I love the energy of the crowd in Detroit. I think Detroit has the best crowds of fetish fans and music fans of anywhere that I've seen in the world. That's why I can't stop coming back.
What can people expect from you at the X-Ball this year?
Expect some great shows from me at X-Ball. I will be doing two shows of my own and I am choreographing and modeling in the fashion show for Vinyl Dolls clothing line.
