Born with European fashion flair, Jenny Ouliguian, owner of Dolce Moda, was born and raised in Lebanon, but has called Royal Oak her home and style-haven since 2003.

The modern white walls of Dolce Moda (which means "sweet fashion" in Italian) are accentuated by the worldly clothes and accessories, which encompass more of a lifestyle brand, according to Ouliguian.

“Being outside the U.S. and traveling exposed me to the culture and fashion sense, which I always thought Michigan was lacking, especially in men’s fashion,” says Ouliguian, explaining why she opened the store. “I wanted to touch and grow from that and bring in things you don’t normally see in the U.S.

Fashion, dining, parties, events and travel all play a role in how a person dresses.

“They want to dress nice, go to the events and basically, we try to provide for that here with our personal stylists and one-on-one service,” the 37-year-old says.

Now that’s some “Dolce Moda.”

What’s new? I heard you had a fashion show?

Yes, on Nov. 28 Six Degrees hosted a charity event for the Michael George Foundation. It was at the Max M Fisher Music Center in Detroit and we did the fashion show. It was a very upscale event, with some great restaurants, cocktails and DJ La Femme, Captn20, and the Green Street Band as entertainment. Harley Davidson -- another sponsor -- also unveiled a new motorcycle.

What did you show off?
There were 22 models and the looks were more for the winter holidays. Things that are big now -- like scarves, big coats with detail and collars and a lot of layering -- were showcased from the 50 designer lines. It was intense, but it was a beautiful show. It’s sophisticated; sophisticated looks, models, music and the whole choreography put together is something straight out of Milan or Paris.

Which I’m sure we can find (the looks) at your store…
Yes, all the looks can be found at Dolce Moda.

Why did you do this one?
I’ve worked with this group before, and I know they work hard at what they do. When I see that -- I want to help. I get a lot of calls to do shows and they’re big and detailed, so I have to choose wisely, but they're an absolutely amazing outcome at the end of the day.

You seem to make it a habit of doing fund-raisers -- like Care House, for example…
It’s important to do fund-raisers for us within the community, our circle, our staff, models, stylists; it's important to do.

In general, what are some of the hot-and-upcoming fashions?
Coats by Mackage of Montreal, which we’ve carried since day one, along with European Culture from Italy and Nice Collective. All the heavy fall/winter collections.

How is it possible to offer so much from all over the world?

Dolce Moda is not the typical department store that carries typical designers. I travel all over to find fashions from Italy, France, Spain; it’s the lifestyle brand name that stands out. We have it all under one roof, men’s, ladies, unique fashions and, we provide immaculate service.

What about the holidays …any plans?
Stay tuned to the Web site [www.dolcemoda.com]. Sign-up and we can send out deals, events and special promos.

What can we expect coming up next?
We have a new weekly event -- Boom Box Tuesdays -- which happen at 8 p.m. at Goodnite Gracie Jazz & Martini Bar in Royal Oak. It’s a night where clients, friends, anyone is invited. Old-school and new music is played by DJ Jenny La Femme. People have so much fun.
