Wandering through Cranbrook's idyllic Bloomfield Hills campus, dotted with architectural gems from heavy hitters Eliel Saarinen and Albert Kahn along with tons of public art installations, sculptures and gardens, always seems like a sweet summer outing, but how often do you do it? Make the drive up Woodward and spend an afternoon trolling around one of the nicest spots in town (it's even in the National Historic Landmark registry). There’s plenty of lush, green nature to take in — you won’t be seeing much of that if you’re moving to New York or L.A. — and a few world-class institutions to explore, like the Art Museum and the Institute of Science. Bonus points if you bring your bike.
