We'll never know what Detroit was like back in the days when it was grand and glamorous around every corner, but there are still pockets of pleasure that hint at the historic high times. Take Cliff Bell's, an unpretentious and gloriously restored slice of old school elegance tucked away on Park Avenue. The bartenders wear ties, the lighting is low and glows gold on Bell’s wood-plus-brass-equals-class motif, and there is live jazz every night but Monday. If only all of your Detroit memories could be this refined.
