R&B and hip-hop music star siblings Brandy and Ray J, along with Q45, the host of BET (Black Entertainment Television) hip-hop show Rap City, are here in Detroit today to make sure young people are ready to vote on election day as part of the STAND UP, SIGN UP, BE HEARD voter registration campaign.
As part of an effort by BET to bring in new voters, Detroit -- along with Cleveland, Philadelphia and Norfolk, Va. -- will be part of a three-hour, national on-air and online broadcast hosted from New York City by Queen Latifah. Young people will hear about the importance of voting from BET hosts, news correspondents and celebrity guests.
The Detroit event will started at 11 a.m. at Reggie McKenzie Field in Highland Park. Native Detroiter Marvin Winans, Jr. and BET News correspondent Jina Johnson will also attend. WHTD 102.7 FM is the host radio station. The event is free to the public.
Reggie McKenzie Field is located at 10 Pitkin Avenue in Highland Park (between Hamilton and 3rd Street). For more information, visit www.bet.com or www.hot1027detroit.com.
