Party pics: Dia De Los Muertos at Imperial
Imperial, the fashionable yet unpretentious cantina that brought L.A.-style Mexican street food to Woodward Ave, paid homage to traditions of the Day of the Dead during their two-day Dia de Los Muertos celebration. Imperial's celebration was highlighted by 11 Day of the Dead skulls done over by some of Detroit's best artists. The contributing artists included Niagara, Glenn Barr, Mark Arminski, Audrey Pongracz and Slaw. All of the art skulls were available for purchase via online auction with the proceeds benefiting Roosevelt Primary school in Ferndale and the Eagle Pledge Scholarship Fund. In keeping with the traditions of the holiday, Imperial set up an Altar of the Dead complete with offerings and the staff doned full Dia De Los Muertos skull face paint.
