Status It’s as common to a see a new club as it is to see beer at a frat party, but this Novi martini lounge is jumping into the mix with luck on its side. Literally. Double 6 shares space in the Novi Fountainwalk with Lucky Strike Lanes, and in its attempts to take on a “new kind of entertainment,” owners Kevin Troy and Steven Foster are targeting “a little older demographic,” says General Manager Brian Conway. Most partygoers at this club - named for the number of martinis Troy and Foster each put on the menu - fall into the late 20s early 30s range.

Gear
With short, black halter-style cocktail dresses, the sexy, upbeat servers add some class to the mostly jeans crowd. When it comes to the bouncers, think Men in Black minus the shades. The dress code for the party people is standard – no torn, dirty clothes, gym shoes, sports or head gear. The crowd kept things simple for opening night.

Mood
Start the night early to enjoy the laid-back lounge vibe, red walls and mood lighting and modern, neutral-colored microsuede sofas. Things get popping just before midnight, when the younger night owls arrive.

Pick-me-up
You don’t have to be a genius to guess that the drink of choice at a martini bar (hint, hint) is, of course, a martini. When you’ve got 12 to chose from, like the Double Six Bubbletini for the ladies (Grey Goose vodka, peach schnapps, Chambord and champagne, struck with lemon juice and a lemon twist) or the Cloud 9 (vanilla infused vodka, butterscotch schnapps and Lemoncello finished with homemade butterscotch and cinnamon foam), the question becomes, what kind is the most popular. Answer: East Meets West, an Asian influenced blend of Grey Goose vodka and elderflower cordial, kaffir lime muddle with fresh lychees, ginger and freshly pressed apple. Drinks average $6, and there are eight kinds of bottled beers. No food here.

Entertainment
Old-school flavor came to life when Square Pegz, a Detroit-based, 80s tribute band, took the stage with pop/rock hits, but it was DJ Donovan Tate that kept the crowd hopping with a mix of dance beats and modern-day pop tunes. Expect live music from cover bands every Friday and Saturday.
