Lions, Tigers & Beers in downtown Wyandotte is a bar and restaurant where sports are the focus but there's no overwhelming display of memorabilia. The "Wizard of Oz" connection that comes with the name adds a surreal yet fun element. At least one of the many televisions plays the old movie continuously, and the food and drink menus incorporate the movie theme as well, but thankfully, it's not overdone. Delete the signed Pudge jersey and the tastefully framed vintage sports pix and LTB could be any mid to upscale restaurant.
A massive American menu is competitively priced, nicely presented and served lightning fast. Appetizers run from $5-$8; entrees $12-$20. There are eight beers on tap include and a monthly special. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, LTB stages a college tailgate party with $1 brats, $3 Bloody Marys and $2 beer specials. Noon-5 p.m. Sundays, there are $2 beer specials and a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar during pro football broadcasts. Weekday happy hour is 3-6 p.m., with $1 off any beverage. There's non-assaultive (no full bands) live music Tuesday through Thursday evenings and a DJ on weekend nights. The music starts after key games are over, and there is a small dance floor. There are twenty 42-inch plasma screens that line the room.
