Hippo's
If "Hippo's Club" sounds familiar, maybe it's because this tiny Hamtramck institution inspired the name for the club in the movie Grosse Pointe Blank. For 18 years, Hippo and Mary have served up $1.50 domestics, and Hamtramck's hipsters settle in the kitschy bar on weekends for $3 Jaegerbombs. Once a month, the bar sells a chauffeured limo, sports ticket, beer and trip to Wings and Lions games. The walls are crammed with Red Wings memorabilia, funny signs and pictures. This is a great place to watch a game.
