The metro Detroit area is loaded with some incredible breweries that narrowing down the best of nominees to just five was nearly impossible. Particularly after we spent the last five weeks sampling all the flavors in the metro area 187 different times (can never be too careful). This is a very difficult assignment, we're very serious...Luckily, we're buzz-writing right now and feel so good that we'll forget the cold-hearted fact we had to exclude so many great spots over-flowing with local beer...

Remember: drink the local stuff (just like us!). Not only because it's really good for you (it is), but it's good for our local business owners and the servers and brewmasters, etc. ...What? Can't we love the brewery category (hiccup)?

Dragonmead Microbrewery

Not surprisingly, this local distillery (which anchors the owners hat trick at 9 and Woodward which also includes the Emory and the Loving Touch) has a selection of microbrews that would make any beer connoisseur blush. Depending on the night, you can enjoy anywhere from eight to 12 different styles including Raspberry Blonde lager, Hefe-Weizen wheat beer and Vanilla Porter. Prices are very competitive coming in at about $4 a brew (and there are $2 pint specials on Sunday nights after 9 p.m.). Sherwoods!!! And I believe that Dragonmead does indeed have TV's.
