Status: Taking a page from “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” this ultra upscale ultra lounge offers every fabulous amenity a L.A. club-hopping fashionista would enjoy. Residing above the rustic and romantic Big Rock Chophouse, Got Rocks has the three D’s down to a science – dinner, drinking and dancing - done picture perfect.

You don’t acquire “it spot” status as one of metro Detroit’s most popular martini and cigar bars without a little effort. Chatting up Operating Manager Stephen Thornhill, it’s not hard to see that Got Rocks is truly a labor of love for those who make it work. “We’ve been at it since 1997; trying to create a space for people who will appreciate the intimate atmosphere, gourmet menu and wide-array of rare liquors we have to offer.”

Not just for the Birmingham elite, this trendy hipster hangout does a great job of presenting the finer things in life without being overtly pretentious.

“Depending on the day of the week and time of day, you can come across a number of different groups including lawyers celebrating a victory in court, the models from Dolce Moda or even a sports celebrity or two relaxing post-game,” Thornhill says.

Mood: Uniquely stylish and elegant, Got Rocks can set the atmosphere no matter what mood it is you're looking for. Great for a date, girls’ night out or a special occasion, you will be delighted by the amount of individual attention you get just walking through the door.

Experience the super steamy dance floor with the one you’ve loved for years or the one you love for the moment. VIP booth reservations are available to fit your every need and include bottle service. Larger parties should call ahead.

“This is the first time we’ve been here, and I love it,” says Nicole White, 27, of Royal Oak. “We just got engaged over Christmas and I just decided this is where I want to have my bachelorette party; just me and a few of my closest girlfriends – it will be perfect!”

One-of-a-kind décor like vintage sofas, hand-blown glass lighting fixtures and contemporary artwork make the small space really open up and come alive.

Gear: If you’re stepping out to see and be seen, you wouldn’t come dressed in anything but your trendy best would you? According to Thornhill, the official dress code would best be described as “uptown chic.” So, leave those jerseys, ball caps and general sports apparel in the gym bag.

Pick me up: Specials on Bud Light bottles? No. Bud Light bottles even available? Nope. This ultra lounge takes boozing to another level thanks to an amazing array of liquors including really rare varietals you’ve probably never heard of like brand new infused vodkas or 40 year-old ports.

Really thirsty for an ice cold brewski? Don’t be alarmed, it doesn’t get much better than a draft or bottle selection from their very own 2,000 sq. ft. on-site brew house right downstairs. If you haven’t had enough when the 2 o’clock hour arrives, you can take home a six-pack of 12 oz. or 22 oz. bottles to enjoy at home.

Having a few drinks is gonna cost you a pretty penny, and if you plan on eating you should plan on dropping more than a few Benjamin’s. Chef Brian Henson has 14 years of experience at renowned restaurants, including working as Wolfgang Puck's Executive Sous Chef and crafting menus to please the most discerning diners is what he does best.   

Entertainment: Offering non-stop entertainment every Tuesday through Saturday night, Got Rocks has got a little bit of everything to satisfy your senses.

Boombox Tuesdays feature the lovely models of Royal Oak’s Docle Moda boutique accompanied by the monster mix of grown and sexy sounds delivered by DJ Jenny LaFemme.
