The original Corktown Tavern stood at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull, until it was razed for a little sports venue called Tiger Stadium. This incarnation has been in business since 1988. It has two floors, eight televisions and can hold 180 of your closest friends. The tavern hosts techno or rock and roll on Friday and Saturday nights. The rest of the time, put some bills in the jukebox, which owner Tom Khalil proudly points out offers not one, but two, Zappa albums, along with Detroit rock 'n' roll, Motown and some country. $5 cover on live music nights. --Emiliana Sandoval
