Mixx Lounge, a nearly two-year-old Novi hot spot, caters to a sophisticated crowd with its quaint, club-like feel.
“We provide an upscale lounge, open seven days a week, that features over 100 top-shelf liquors, a list of 25 custom martinis, a cigar humidor and service that is second to none,” says Eric Lowery, one of the venue's four owners.
The music’s loud, but not obnoxiously so, and the dance floor stays packed. The rounded leather booths, high-top stools and vintage photos on the wall in this dim-lit outlet creates a sense of intimacy during the week, while the pulse-pounding music and dance floor form an upscale club vibe on the weekends.
If you plan on hosting a party here, be sure to call ahead for reserved seating.
There is no cover for women and a $5 cover for men after 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Gear
Dressing up is a good idea if you plan on heading over to the Mixx Lounge. Jeans are okay if you can spice them up with a nice shirt. Lowery says the only specific restrictions are no tank tops for men and no backwards hats.
Women mostly wear black pants or jeans with a dressy top, and it's jeans and collared shirts for the guys –- definitely more of an upscale casual look.
Mood
“You get a sophisticated lounge and premier nightclub rolled into one,” Lowery says.
The pool table is mobile and the lights above it lift up to provide ample space for live entertainment. Friendly and romantic, the lounge’s dark walls and candle-lit tables add a touch of coziness. The set up and décor help stimulate creative conversation making an outgoing environment.
“I come here with my friends because everyone has a great personality,” says Livonia’s Brian Koestering, a frequent visitor of Mixx Lounge.
Pick me up
Choose from a list of 25 custom martinis with the “No.VI” being Mixx's signature martini. The average price for a martini is $8.
Beers range from $3.75-4.25 and cocktails are anywhere from $6.50-7.50. Mixx has an appetizer-only menu with treats like chicken fingers, egg rolls, shrimp cocktail and spinach dip for an average price of $7.
Entertainment
There is a DJ and dancing on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays, you’ll usually find alternating DJs and live bands. “Currently we are having 80's nights on Thursdays,” Lowery says
Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, Mixx is hosting its two-year anniversary bash. There will be no cover before 11p.m. Make sure to stop by for $2 Red Bull shots and VIP giveaways.
