Downtown Hoedown drinking spots
Bringing you the best in local and national acts like Gretchen Wilson, Jewel, Trisha Yearwood and Westland’s own good-ol'-boy turned country star Josh Gracin, this weekend’s Downtown Hoedown is sure to be a boot-scooting good time. So let the good times roll and finish up your night at one of the area’s buck-wildest country bars. Yee-haw!

Coyote Joe's Nightclub
Forget what you think you know about country bars and check out the party this weekend at Coyote Joe’s. What seems to be a contradiction in terms, this “country nightclub” highlights the latest national acts on the country scene including Dierks Bentley, Josh Gracin and Halfway to Hazard. Check out the spacious new patio while you sip on $1 pints this Friday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hold on to your hat and take a ride on the mechanical bull or just sit back and relax as the Coyote Girls line dance their way down the bar and into your heart.

Diamondback Saloon
This country-western bar is a two-step above the rest, letting loose with live entertainment every Wednesday through Saturday featuring local house band Derringer. They blend a unique mix of country, rock, and hip-hop that lends to the down-home feel at this Belleville mainstay. Stop by on your way to the Hoedown on Friday and enjoy the power hour when all well drinks are only $1 or finish up your festivities on Sunday night with your choice of $1 drafts or $1.50 bottled beers.

Desperado's

Claiming to be home to the hottest hick chicks in the Clem – they say it, not us – this rowdy bar doesn’t disappoint if it’s a party you’re seeking. Watch as the best (and the worst) take a whack at wrangling the mechanical bull or if you’re feeling a lil frisky you can attempt to tame the big bad beast yourself. The Element bar, located in the back of Desperado’s, offers all you dancing darlings a mix of hot country hits infused with the latest hip-hop jams. The Hoedown after-party features $1.50 mug refills from 4 p.m. ‘til midnight all weekend long. Keep the dirt off your boots and take advantage of the valet parking Saturday.

Whiskey’s
Located in downtown Lake Orion, Whiskey’s steakhouse is a mild-mannered restaurant by day and a yee-haw-styled bustling local hot spot by night. The drinks are strong and the staff has the Western-friendly charm as they invite you to line-dance your way across the bar. Seeking something easy to go down for dessert? Volunteer to get slimy in the jello wrestling competition. If you’re looking to improve your two-step, come back during the week for free country dance lessons.
