Decadence 2012
One sweet party will be held Friday at Petruzzello’s in Troy.
Guests will indulge in chocolates, desserts and other confections from some of Detroit’s sweetest boutiques; partake in wine, champagne and dessert martinis and vote for the “Most Decadent Sweets Boutique” at the Social Connection event.
The contest where guests choose the boutique with the best sweets is “just to encourage people to go around and try all the sweets we have at the event,” says the Social Connection’s Erica Thietten. “It’s just a fun little thing for them to participate in.”
Sampling stations will be filled with treats from local stores (Schakolad Chocolate Factory, Sugar & Spice, Kilwins, Treat Dreams, Trifles, Stucci’s Ice Cream, Ridley’s Bakery, Champagne Cholates, Little Dove Bake Shop, the Pastry Guru and Angels Cakes) from 8-10 p.m. VIP ticket holders will receive 15 drink tickets, hors d’oeuvres from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on the mezzanine level of the banquet center and a midnight buffet of Coney’s, pizza and sliders at 11:30 p.m. General admission guests will get 10 drink tickets, and there will be a cash bar for people holding late night passes.
When you buy a ticket for the second annual Decadence event, you will be able to choose one of seven charities to receive a portion of the proceeds from your ticket. The participating non profits are the Children’s Center, World Clothes Line, the Junior League of Birmingham, Next Generation America, All About Animals Rescue, the Pink Fund and Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Diamond Fire
Dinner and dancing are a tried-a-true way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but Saturday at the Roostertail, you’ll also get giveaways and a fashion show.
Lebanon-born designer Saiid Kobeisy will showcase his work after guests finish their meals of exotic greens with roasted honey and raspberry dressing, a fresh fruit salad, baked white fish, spice-rubbed top sirloin, char grilled chicken breast, garlic red-skinned potatoes and Green Bean Almondine.
“Somebody’s always looking for something to do for Valentine’s Day,” says Lacretia Rogers, public relations director for Glam House Productions, hosts of the event. “We wanted to provide something different besides just going to dinner and a movie.”
The black-tie affair will include entertainment by local R&B singer Lisa Stevenson and others, a raffle with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross and giveaways of roses, champagne and gift cards throughout the night.

Snow-Torious Pub Crawl
Five bucks doesn’t get you much with the exception of a $5 foot-long sandwich from Subway and a Hot-n-Ready pizza from Little Caesars. On Saturday, you can add the fifth consecutive Bar Blast to that list.
For just $5, you will get access to 14 downtown Detroit bars including old favorites the Old Shillelagh, Delux, Pulse, Centaur, the Town Pump and Bookies and some new bars like the Red Grape Lounge, Asteria in the Greektown Casino and Dirty Trick.
"For only $5, you can experience a whole pletra of what downtown Detorit has to offer," says event organizer John Badanjek. "It's a great way to discover Detroit."
Partygoers can start at any participating venue and catch on of nearly a dozen shuttle buses every 10 to 15 minutes until 2 a.m. Advance tickets are available at neptix.com. Wristbands will also be available at the participating venues.
The annual event corresponds with Motown Winter Blast held each year at Campus Martius Park.
9 p.m. Saturday, downtown Detroit, $5.
Kiss me, I’m single
Not everyone gets warm, fuzzy feelings when it comes to Valentine’s Day, so the Channel 95.5 bombsquad is turning the tables on the Hallmark holiday by hosting an anti-Valentine’s day bash Tuesday at Tequila Blue.
“We just realized that people that are in relationships or married are going out to dinner (on Valentine’s Day),” says David Boji, who is hosting the event with DJs Paul Martindale, Matt Camron and Shortstop. “People that are single, we wanted to give them somewhere they can hang out and socialize and meet people.”
If you’re in a relationship, you are still welcome to take part in the first-time event. The party, which includes music and drink special, is more about socializing than bashing love.
A dress code of no hoodies or baggy clothes will be enforced.
8 p.m. Tuesday, Tequila Blue, 526 Main St., Royal Oak, 248.591.9000. Free.
